The Black Sea Coast - Bulgaria
The Bulgarian Black Sea coast was inhabited centuries
ago - the earliest records date from 5th century BC.
Nowadays it is a magnet for millions of
Bulgarians and foreign visitors every year. The welcoming
climate from late May to late September with average
sea temperatures of 25C, the beaches with fine golden
sands, and the modern resorts not surprisingly attract
more and more tourists. The Black Sea coast is also
one of the best spa areas in the country where the combination
of sea climate, mineral baths, hot springs, and curative
mud adds to the possibilities of holiday enjoyment.
The vast tourist complexes such as Sunny Beach and Golden
Sands, newer resorts like Sveti Vlas, and holiday villages
such as Elenite and Dyuni compare favorably with villa
settlements in the Mediterranean.
The Black Sea beach resorts of Bulgaria are divided
in two types according to their situation:
Northern resorts - Around the city of Varna (Bulgaria's
biggest city on the Black Sea). The famous resorts are
Varna itself, Golden Sands, Albena, Riviera, Rusalka,
St. Constantine and Elena
Southern resorts - near the city of Bourgas. The famous
resorts on the South are Sunny Beach (the biggest Black
sea resorts), Sveti Vlas, Nessebar, Primorsko, Sozopol.
The Southern resorts feature a little higher temperatures
compared to the Northern ones.
The eastern Bulgarian coast is washed by the Black
Sea. 380 km marvelous strech of beaches, calm and safe
sea, clear water and healthy air, fine golden sand and
natural dunes, mineral water springs, blue flag winning
resorts, holiday villages and campsites.
Average air temperature in the summer is about 28°C,
water temperature - 25°C. There are more than
240 hours of sunshine in May and September and more
than 300 hours in July and August. The two international
airports of Varna and Bourgass connects the Bulgarian
Riviera to the world
Northern Black Sea coast
Clean and calm sea with shal low sloping sandy bottom,
wide beaches with fine grain golden sands, venerable
forest and numerous mineral springs. All these feathures
make the Northern Black Sea coast an attractive place
for Bulgarian and foreign holiday-makers. Even the most
refined reqirements will be satisfied by the mothern
resorts of Zlatni Piassatsi (Golden Sands), Albena,
Roussalka, Riviera, Slanchev_Den (Sunny Day), St.Konstantin
and Elena.
Southern Black Sea coast
Picturesque bays and whimsical rocks, spacious beaches
with sand dunes and warm sea create the attractive force
of the Bulgarian Southern Black Sea coast. Wonderful
nature in combination with modern construction - this
is the magic of the holiday villages of Elenite, Sunny
Beach, Nessebur, Sozopol...
To the north the long and indented coast line is bordered
by the farthes spurs of the Balkan range and to the
south - by the heights of the Strandzha Mountain. Even
nowadays the unique cultura in Strandzha is a part of
attitudes and habits of Ahtopol, Tsarevo, Kiten, Primorsko.
In restaurants and bars foreign tourists are enchanted
by the unique artistic atmosphere of the Strandzha fire-dances.
